Obituary

Sue C. Allison, 84, of Chester, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Weirton Medical Center, following COVID-related complications. Family has been grateful for the Fox staff and residents, especially at Pepperberry Suites where she received fine personal care.
Born June 15, 1936, in East Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Cleo and Ruth Schaffer Linger.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen T. Allison (Thayer); sons, Vincent Thayer and Stephen Paul Allison; great-nephew, Marcus Murray.
Sue was a graduate of Chester High School Class of 1954. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and a minor in music from West Liberty University. Sue retired from the Hancock County School system after 43 years of service. She had an incredible passion for public education and enjoyed a long and distinguished career, often remarking, “I think I taught every child in the county!”
She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church participating and enjoying the Crafters. Sue was also a founding member of the Hancock County chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and a member of the Hancock County Retired Teachers Association. Sue was well-traveled, visiting Europe and enjoying the culture of other lands. Cruising Alaska was a special adventure, one she shared with Kathy and then again with Marissa. Our family revolved around her gentle, accepting nature, enjoying her cooking and baking for all special occasions. She was patient with all of us and much loved.
Sue will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kathy Allison; sister, Judy Comm and her husband Harry; niece, Laurie Murray (Todd) and great-nieces, Marissa, and MacKenzie Murray, great-great-nephew, Clayton; nephew, Doug Comm (Jodi), great-nephews, Cooper, Parker, and Kayler; nephew, Randy Comm, and his wife Michele Baranaskas. Sue appreciated all the moments she spent with her great nieces and nephews, always thanking her sister for sharing her grandchildren with her. Also, surviving are two sisters-in-law, Midge Allison and Carolyn Allison and their respective families.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, with interment at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens. Sue’s arrangements were entrusted with the Arner Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to A.T. Allison Elementary, 605 Railroad St. Chester, WV and Westminster Presbyterian Church, 508 Indiana Ave., Chester, WV 26034.
