Progress continued with improvements to the New Cumberland water/sewage system at Monday’s City Council meeting. Following public hearings on ordinances enabling improvements and additions to the water/sewage system and subsequent sewage rate increase the ordinances were passed by Council.
In other business, Council:
**Announced filing for Mayor and City Council would commence January 11 and continue through January 30. Filing fee for Mayor is $100 with a $50 filing fee for City Council;
**Agreed to have the City building remain closed to the public due to COVID pandemic;
**Agreed to acquire an engineering report so that the City can move forward on Porter Street repairs;
**Approved payment of monthly invoices amounting to $60,811.27
**Discussed a USDA Facility Program grant update. The grant would provide 75 % of costs on projects such as heating/air conditioning multi-purpose room in municipal building;
**Received an update on CARES’ Act funds. The City has received t$100,000.00 to date and is awaiting approval of an additional $9,000.00;
**Learned the City Building will closed on January 18, 2021 for Martin Luther King Day;
