Obituary

Rowena M. Snyder, formerly of Chester, passed at the Orchards of East Liverpool on Monday, January 4, 2020, after a lengthy illness.
105 years old, Rowena was born on November 14, 1915, in Wirt County, WV. A daughter of Reese and Elsie Travis Wine, she was raised in East Liverpool and graduated from East Liverpool High School.
After marrying her husband Marvin Snyder who died in 1986, Rowena made her home in Chester. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth Vernon Wine, and Edwin Wine, and her sister Juanita Prescott.
A loving homemaker and an excellent cook, she often cooked meals for the Chester Lions Club bi-monthly meetings where her husband Marvin was a highly active member. Rowena was a member of the Chester First United Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star.
She leaves two children, Alan Snyder of Aliquippa, PA., and Nancy “Kay” Jeffries of Canton, OH., and one brother, Norman Dale Wine, and his wife, Carol Ann of Chester. There are eight grandchildren, Eric Kester, who had been her caregiver for several years, Jack Jeffries, Charlie Jeffries, Sue Jackson, Jeff Jeffries, Kathy Arko, Dorothy Ashcraft, and Rowena Stockman, and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
Pastor Rick Tinsky of the New Cumberland Christian Church will celebrate Rowena’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Friday, January 8, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family Friday one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Covid-19 protocol and the wearing of masks will be in place.
