Obituary

Paul E. Pugh, formerly of Rt. 8 in New Cumberland, and more recently of Fox Lane in Chester, passed peacefully at the Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester on Sunday, January 3, 2021.
92 years old, Paul was born in Pughtown, now New Manchester, WV., on May 23, 1929. He was the son of the late Nellie Pugh.
Paul retired from Weirton Steel as a pipefitter, and he had owned and operated his own plumbing business for several years. Following retirement, he and his wife, Barbara enjoyed the best of both worlds, wintering in Florida, where they made many lifelong friends, and spending summers in the house that they loved so much on route 8. A graduate of Chester High School, Paul belonged to the Aboriginal Explorers Club in Wellsville, where he shared his keen interest in Native American history and archeology. Also, Paul proudly served his country with the US Navy.
Surviving is his wife of 69 years, Barbara Ann Asher Pugh, who he married on September 1, 1951, his daughters, Terry Pugh Simmons and her husband Jim of Virginia Beach, and Penny L. Pugh of Morgantown, WV., and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Young of San Francisco, CA.
Paul’s family will plan a memorial service for a later time. He is in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester.
