Happy New Year! We’re hopeful that 2021 will be a better than year than 2020! Swaney Memorial Library is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays; from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays; and from 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays. We will be closed on Monday, January 18th, 2021, and will close at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021. We ask that you call 304-564-3471 ahead of time to schedule an appointment to ensure everyone’s safety. We also ask that you wear a mask covering your mouth and nose while inside the building. We are still able to notarize, fax, scan, make copies, and all of our public computers are available for use. We are also offering free Wi-fi inside and in our parking lot after hours with no time limits or password needed. If you’re a student, please login with the Kids Connect free wi-fi. Everyone else can use our regular free wi-fi line of 3471.
We would like to thank the Camp Fire Girls, the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and the New Cumberland Garden Club for decorating Christmas trees for the library this year. It made the library festive and beautiful! Unfortunately, not a lot of people came out to vote (which is good to help slow the spread of COVID-19) so we only raised about $40 instead of our usual $200. Congratulations to the Camp Fire girls who received the most votes. We hope everyone enjoyed seeing the trees lit up in the windows as they drove by.
Like last year, most of the library’s usual events have been cancelled due to COVID-19. We anxiously await when it’ll be safe to meet again for Puzzle Day, Stuffed Animal Sleepovers, Story Hour, Book Signings, Paint & Snacks, Hogwarts, Seuss Party, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny/Santa, etc. For now, we’re doing what we can to help by not having them and planning to make them even better when we can again. We will start Spring Story Hour Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021. If we are unable to meet in person, then we will post the videos on Swaney Memorial Library’s Face book page like we have in the past. We will have craft bags available for pickup ahead of time. More information will be coming as the date draws closer so check our Face book page, this article, stop in the library, or call to find out what’s happening.
Swaney Memorial Library will have tax forms and instructions available again this year. They have not arrived yet, but should be coming in any time now. We ordered both federal and state this year so hopefully we’ll have everything you’ll need!
