Alayna Kranis, 17, a senior at Oak Glen High School, was chosen as Scholar of the Month. She is the daughter of Robert and Cassandra Kranis of New Cumberland. She has been a part of Key Club, Pep Club, Prom Committee, and is president of her 2021 graduating class. She represented Oak Glen High School for the Weirton Rotary Club Youth Leadership Program her sophomore year. Her senior year, she was elected National Honors Society Vice President. She is currently ranked first in her graduating class with a grade point average of 4.24.
During her high school career, Alayna received All OVAC Academics all four years. She was a four-year starter on the varsity basketball team and three-year starter on the varsity volleyball team. In her junior year, she was a member of the 2019 West Virginia Volleyball State Championship team. Alayna, as a senior, was selected to be a WV All-Star on both the 2020 OVAC All-Star Team and North/South Volleyball All-Stars team. She also was chosen for First Team All-State Team and to be on the All OVAC 4A Volleyball Team. She received a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the state volleyball tournament.
In the fall she plans to attend West Virginia University majoring in Neuroscience, and pursuing a degree in medicine.
