Patterson Lions Club Scholar of the Month

Gage Patterson, is a senior at Oak Glen High School. Gage is the son of Tracy Bone and Ted Patterson.
He has been selected as the Oak Glen Lions Club Scholar of the Month for January 2021. Gage is a 4-year letterman and captain of the football team. Gage is a 4-letterman in basketball and track. Gage has had an outstanding career with Oak Glen High School. He was named to the Wheeling Intelligencer All-Valley Team, Herald-Star All-Area Team, and WTOV-9 Defensive Player of the Year Nominee, 1st Team All OVAC and WVSSAC AA 1st Team. As a freshman Gage placed 5th at the WVSSAC State Track Meet in long jump and a 3rd place finish in OVAC with the markings of 20-07.25 and 20-06.75 feet respectfully. A member of the 4×100 Relay, the Team Placed 4th with a time of 45.80 and a member of the 4×200 Relay the Golden Bears placed 4th with a time of 1:34.48 at the OVAC Championships. As a sophomore, Gage improved his personal best to place 2nd in the long jump OVAC’s at 20-08.25 feet. Additionally as a sophomore Gage had multiple place winners at the WVSSA State Track Meet in his team relay events. The place winners included: 4×100 Relay – Placed 4th with a time of 44.51, 4×200 Relay – Placed 5th with a time of 1:33.43, 4×400 Relay – Placed 5th with a time of 3:33.30, 4×100 Relay – Placed 2nd with a time of 44.71, 4×200 Relay – Placed 2nd with a time of 1:33.67, 4×400 Relay – Placed 2nd with a time of 3:37.30. Gage has a 3.8 GPA and has been honored as a WTOV-9 Scholar Athlete of the Week and All OVAC Academic Team. Gage enjoys helping younger athletes in the commute in during summer practices. Gage enjoys working at Chaney’s Auto and he does yard-work in the summer. His hobbies includes weightlifting, off-road riding, fishing and his a favorite pastime is spending time with friends.
After high school Gage plans to attend West Liberty University to continue his career goals to begin with a bachelor degree in business and he has committed be a member on the Wisest Liberty University Track Team. Gage will pursue a career in sports management or project management. He has an interest to help his community in business development through his education and training.
