Activities for Independence Day in Chester will be held on July 3 this year. Councilman Ed Wedgewood, 4th of July Committee member, said the Festivities are slated on Saturday rather than Sunday, July 4th to make it more convenient for those enjoying the festivities.
11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Chester Lions Club will hold its Car Classic at Chester City Park from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Motorcycles are welcome, Registration is $5 per car of motorcycle and is from 10 a.m. til noon. Those interested in avoiding registration lines, can pre-register and pay at the event according to Lion Steve Wilson who reminds residents “there is no fee to come and check out the cars, trucks and motorcycles.”
Thirty-eight awards will be presented including Best of Show, Best GM, Best Ford, Best MOPAR, Best Motorcycle and many more. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 150 registrants and door prizes will be given every 15 minutes to registrants. There will be a DJ, 50/50 raffle and a Chinese Auction. Wilson stresses that you don’t have to enter a car to participate in the Chinese Auction or 50/50 raffle nor do you have to be present to win. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.
