Your Imagination Station

With Connie & Shauna

June sure has been a busy month here at Lynn Murray Memorial Library. We kicked off our Summer Reading Program with LIVE Tadpoles, and have had a “TAILS” story every day at 3:00, with a craft to make, a color sheet and a word search. The kiddos have really enjoyed coming in to get their daily packets. Wait, your kiddos(s) haven’t got theirs yet? No worries. We have extra ones made up, so stop on in and pick ‘em up.

We’re having a great time with our “TALES” this week. We’ll share that news with y’all in our next article, along with pictures.

Our Summertime Storytime has been a huge success! We’ve gone camping, made popsicles and had a beach party so far. Next week, our theme is a 4th of July picnic. We meet every Wednesday from 11-12, with children from birth to age 5. Stop on in and join us. You’ll be glad you did. I know we will be glad to have you.

Game Night is still going strong, with new games added each week. It’s wonderful to see so many kids come together, get along, share, teach others new games, and make new friends. Bring your kiddo(s) out to join uis every Thursday from 4-6 through August 12. Then, beginning in September, we’ll meet the first Thursday of every month, since it will be time again for studies and homework.

The ‘Bag Ladies’ met again this month to prep plastic grocery bags for Plarn Mats for our deployed soldiers. If you’d like to help us, plan to be here Friday, July 16 at 5:00.

Our Sit & Stitch group, which meets the last Friday of every month from 11-1 and again from 5-7, had 6 new people this month. We had such a good time. Can’t wait til next month to work on hats for premies. If you’re one who likes to do any kind of needlework, then you’ll want to be sure and mark your calendar for July 30 to come and hang out with us. We’d love to have you.

So what else is in store for July? Well, let’s not forget that July 31 is our HARRY POTTER DAY from 11-1. Oooooh, the things we have planned for that day. Registration is now open for the event. Come dressed in your favorite Harry Potter attire and be ready to have some fun. There’s NO CHARGE for the event and it’s open to ALL ages.

Friday, July 9th, at 11am, will bring a new group to the library. It’ll be our “Pincushions” group. We will be sewing soup bowl cozies for our first meeting.  You’ll need to bring a portable sewing machine, pins, needle, thread, and fabric of your choice. We’ll have a cutting mat, rotary cutter, iron and ironing board to share.

We also have a “Senior Stretch” scheduled for Saturday, July 17 at 10am for ladies and 10:45 for gentlemen. Erin Malcomb will be leading us in low impact, joint friendly, chair exercises to help keep us limber and moving. Again, NO CHARGE for this class.

Our paint class has been rescheduled for August, with an Autumn/Harvest theme. More details to come.

July sounds like it’s going to be as busy as June was for us…..and we LOVE it! Stop in and say hello, grab a good book or a puzzle, or come join one of our groups. We love seeing the community utilize our little library. Remember to follow our facebook page for all the news and photos.

Until next time…..remember to grab a book and let your imagination take you places you’ve never been.
