OBITUARY DONALD JENNINGS

Donald H. Jennings, 81, of Chester, was reunited with the love of his life, on Thursday, November 11, 2021. He passed at Heritage Valley Beaver, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born, November 20, 1939, in Newell, WV., he was a son of the late, Donald C. and Violet Hale Jennings.

He was recently preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie A. Jennings on August 12, 2021. Don was also preceded in death by his brother, John Charles “Corky” Jennings and his sister, Janice Harris.

Don was a graduate of Wells High School Class of 1957. He later retired from Penn Power, where he worked in the Maintenance Department.

Don devoted his life to his catholic faith and served as an usher on Saturday evenings mornings. He was a meticulous carpenter building his own home and remodeling each one of his children’s homes. Don was known for his kind and compassionate personality. He enjoyed taking his daily walks through Chester and carrying on a conversation with anyone he would come across.  He was known for his cornhole championships at summer Church picnics, and he loved every minute of earning his title.

Don was a member of Sons of American Legion Post 121, Newell Lions Club and he enjoyed bowling in numerous leagues throughout the year.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Pamela Allison and her husband Dan of Chester, Mary Thorn and her husband Kenny of Chester, Steven Jennings of Rayland, OH. and Michael Jennings and his wife Karina of Seattle, WA.; grandchildren, Jocelyn Allenby (Gary) of Monaca, PA., Matthew Ford (Katie) of Wheeling, Brittany Bentz (Mark) of Washington, PA., Erik Jennings (Christine) of Seattle, WA.., Tyler Jennings (Alyssa) of Seattle, WA., and Melody Jennings of Wheeling; brother, David Jennings of Baltimore and sister, Marilyn Adams of Newell; sister in-law’s, Patty France (Larry) and Grayce Copeland (Mack) and brother in-law, Blaine Pinney (Paula). He will also be missed by her great-grandchildren, Isabella, Bryce, Benjamin, and Ash.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester on, Monday, November 15, 2021, at 10:00 am, Father Jeeson Stephan will preside. Interment will follow at Shaw Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 14, 2021, at the Arner Funeral Chapel from Noon to -2:00 PM and 5:00-7:00 PM. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:30 PM.
