OBITUARY: BETTY RAYL

Betty Ilene Rayl, 87, formerly of East Liverpool and a resident of Vero Beach for the past 4 years, passed at the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach on Thursday, January 20, 2022, following a brief illness.

A lifelong resident of East Liverpool, she was born here on January 12, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mae Margaret Dray Bryan.

Along with her late husband, Fred L. Rayl, Ilene owned and operated Rayl’s Market in East Liverpool since 1964. Also, she owned and operated Grandma’s Ceramics in East Liverpool. Ilene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, the most important things in life were her family and her church. She was a loyal member of the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ in Chester for over 60 years. While in Vero Beach, Ilene attended the Vero Beach Church of Christ.

Along with her parents and husband, Fred who died on December 28, 2012, her sister, Marlene Clark, and her favorite K-9 companion, Babe also preceded her in death.

Devasted by her loss are her children, Fred Rayl and his wife Bridget of East Liverpool, and Lynn Rayl Nusser and her companion Randy Tremblay of Vero Beach; her sister-in-law, Mary White of Mesa, AZ; her grandchildren, Eric (Angela) Rayl, Kris (Hiidie Matics) Rayl, Larry (Amber) Nusser, and Mandy (PJ Sines) Nusser; and her great-grandchildren, Haley Belle and Wyatt Nusser, Lindsey (Jason) Fitzgerald, Lexsey Bieber, and Margo Matics. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Private services will be held at Virginia Ave. Church of Christ and interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in East Liverpool. The Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester is assisting with these arrangements.
