William “Sonny” Fordyce Jr.; 83, of Weirton, WV passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Weirton Geriatric Center.
He was born February 25, 1938 in Claysville, PA a son of the late William & Ettie Mae (Jackson) Fordyce. He is also preceded in death by a sister Olive Di Cenzo.
Bill was a retired steelworker from J & L Steel; a member of the Colliers First Church of God and the Country Friends.
Bill will be remembered by his Longtime Companion Ruth Elliott with whom he made his home. He was a good guy and liked to tease people, a lot of people called him Trouble.
Surviving are his companion Ruth Elliott of Weirton; his children: Ruth Spriggs of Boeme, TX. Larry Fordyce of Japan; Rusty Fordyce of Weissport, PA, Charles Fordyce of Florence, PA, Kim Orsion of Langeloth, PA. and Cathy Halstead of Hookstown, PA. He is also survived by three sisters: Anna Glass of Georgetown, PA, Marjorie Smitsky of Clinton, PA and Frances VanClearve of Danbury, NC and one brother, Walter Fordyce of Hanover, PA., 23 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Viewing was held February 1 at the Turley Funeral Home.
Services will be there Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Eric Spencer officiating. Interment will follow in New Cumberland Cemetery.
