OAK GLEN TO PRESENT THE MIRACULOUS JOURNEY OF EDWARD TULANE

This March, Oak Glen High School Little Theatre is creating a unique  theatre experience for children.

The Little Theatre is performing a one act play, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, based on the book written by Katie DiCamillo.

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is story is about a china rabbit who becomes lost from the little girl who loves him. His travels span the course of more than 30 years as he tries to find love and happiness again, even if it means having a life without his former owner. As Edward goes from place to place he also changes emotionally. He meets new people that help him along his path and he not only finds the true meaning of love but he also finds his way home. This is a classic children’s tale of hope, loss, change, but most importantly love.

This  production will integrate the magic and power of reading with the imagination and creativity of live theatre, showing young readers that books can take us on endless  incredible journeys. Our goal as a theatre department is to inspire children to become avid readers.

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane play  is also special because our theatre students have invited 8th grade students from Oak Glen Middle School to be involved in their areas of interest. The 8th grade students who are involved are part of our team of artists, designers, and carpenters.

The one act play will be presented March 4-6 at 7:30 pm. The show is approximately45 minutes in length. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens, and $1 for students.

The first 20 elementary age students each performance will get a copy of Katie DiCamillo’s novel.
