The West Virginia Fidelis Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Women Educators Organization met at 12:00, March 3, 2022, at Garden Grill Steakhouse in Weirton, WV. President Diane Higgins opened the meeting with a welcome to the members. Chaplain Bonnie Queses gave the “Thought for the Day.” She shared a poem titled “Heaven’s Grocery Store.” Chaplain Bonnie Queses read the November and December minutes for Secretary Ruth Fuller in her absence due to her husband’s surgery. The financial report was given by Diane Higgins in the absence of Treasurer Carolyn Allison. The members were reminded that dues and birthday money is to be paid by December 1, 2022. Altruistic Chairman Margo Polk reported that the service hours, monetary donations, and non-monetary donations were reported to the state. Fraternity Education Chairman Liz Pugh presented and Educational Bingo Game on the Facts of Alpha Delta Kappa. The Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship will be presented this spring. President Diane Higgins delivered the completed scrap book. The Nominating Chairman Jerry DeFilippo introduced the slate of officers for the 2022-2024 biennium: President – Diane Higgins, President Elect-Margo Polk, Secretary- Sandy Anderson, Corresponding Secretary- Susan Cullinan, Financial -Carolyn Allison, and Chaplain -Bonnie Queses. A motion was made and accepted by all members. Membership Chairman Jerry DeFilippo presented a list of prospective members, and a motion was made to accept all those listed. President Higgins gave background information on C.H.E.A.R – a World Understanding Project Challenge which embraces cultural differences. A donation was sent from our chapter. Special dates for members to remember: West Virginia Executive Board meeting March 5, 2022; West Virginia State Convention, Charleston Marriott on April 22-24, 2022; Southeast Region Conference, Wilmington, N.C., July, 2022. Sister illnesses and concerns were shared. Susan Cullinan discussed the situation in Ukraine and asked the members to consider giving donations to the Red Cross and The Catholic Fund. Members with a March birthday are Elaine Ferrari – March 10, and Pat Accettolo – March 17. The hostesses for the meeting were Susan Cullinan and Diane Higgins. The next meeting will be April 7, 2022. The hostesses for the April meeting will be Margo Polk and Donna Roman, The meeting was adjourned with the singing of “The Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa.”
