We’re still staying busy at the library, even with the snow and ice we’ve had. Have you been tuning in at 4:00 every day for our story? Has anyone seen our special guest reader we’ve been having? Mr Connor has been reading to us every Thursday and we absolutely love having him. If you’d like to stop in and read, please do.
We had a great turn out for our Lights & Shadows program. We read a story about shadows, and learned how to bounce light, using mirrors, we copy-built towers from shadows on paper, we made sun catchers, and hand shadow puppets. It was so much fun playing in the dark. We’ll be having another program sometime in the fall, so keep an eye out for it.
Our Storytime kiddos observed Dental Health month by making a tooth craft and getting their very own toothbrush. They also read stories about Polar bears on National Polar Bear day, had a Mardi Gras party with beads and masks, and a Dr Seuss Party, complete with party hats, cupcakes and singing Happy Birthday in sign language. Our MOPS group met this month and they also had a Mardi Gras and Dr Seuss Party.
The third graders are still coming to see us every Thursday to hear a story and pick out new books. We talked about March being Youth Art Appreciation month, and they found out that we’re having our First Annual Youth Art Show, right here at the library. This year, the theme is CRAZY ART. If you haven’t already, you need to stop in and pick up your tile to make your art project. It can be anything you come up with. The crazier the better. Let your imagination wander and be creative. The tiles are due back in the library by Saturday, March 19 at 2:00. They will be displayed in the library until March 26. We want everyone to vote for your People’s Choice. Then, on March 26, our artist will be judging all the entries as well.
Speaking of March 26, that’s the Saturday for our Paint Class. Have you registered yet? The class is $25 and snacks will be provided at the end of the day. Class will begin at 11:00. All the supplies will be provided. Please call ahead or stop in and register, so we are sure to have enough supplies prepared for everyone.
So what’s coming up next? This Saturday, March 19 at 11:00 is our Reading with Rover program. Therapy dogs will be here for your “Little(s)” to read to. If your child(ren) are struggling with reading aloud or are just not quite comfortable with reading yet, bring them out to read to the dogs. They love to be read to. These dogs have been trained and are certified and insured. Please, for safety reasons, we cannot have other dogs join us. They have to be the therapy dogs. Thanks for your understanding with this.
Who out there remembers Card Clubs? We would like to get a card club started here at the library, but…..we need your help in doing so. Is it something that you’d be interested? And, if you are, what day and time would y’all prefer?
Have you been seeing our GARDENING tips and tricks on our Facebook page? You’re definitely gonna wanna keep up with “em. Ya know why? Because we are about to have two gardens at the library. That’s right, TWO. A flower garden and a vegetable garden. Who wants to help with it? We’re going to build raised beds and learn about gardening. It’s something I personally love to do, and would like to share it with all of you. We’re pretty excited about our garden, and we hope you are too.
Don’t forget to be picking up your Take & Make projects, and watching our stories at 4:00 every day. Until the next time…..grab a good book and let your imagination take you places you’ve never been.
Miss Connie
