The newly-constituted Hancock County Board of Education elected Chris Gillette as its President of the Hancock County Board of Education and Ed Fields as Vice-President. The action was taken at the Board’s reorganization meeting on Wed., July 5. New Board members Ed Fields, Gerard Spencer and Jim Horstman joined incumbent members Gillette and Larry Shaw in making the decisions unanimous. Fields made the motion to elect Gillette as President. The motion was seconded by Spencer. The motion to elect Fields as Vice-President was made by Spencer and seconded by Horstman. Board officers will serve a two-year term.
In their first order of business, the Board voted to move their meeting time from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays to accommodate work schedules and provide greater access for the public to attend Board meeting. The Board also agreed to alternate meeting locations between Weir High and Oak Glen High Schools.
The Board is slated to meet for its regularly scheduled Board meeting on July 11 at 6:30 p.m.
