YOUR IMAGINATION STATION with Miss Connie

Hello everyone, well the end of summer is finally here and we’ve taken a little bit of a break here at Lynn Murray memorial Library. Our Summer Reading Program finished out strong, with a fun treasure hunt with lots of treasures to be found. We made our Beads to Read Mobiles, wrapped up Summertime Storytime, and now we’re planning our Fall programs.

First up, this Saturday, September 24 @ 11:00, we have our Roll & Read. Come on out and enjoy an interactive story walk, and finish off by taking the storybook home with you (one copy per family).

Chess Club is still meeting every Thursday at 4:00. Both young and old, beginners and pros, are welcome. The children are learning so much from the seasoned players.

Sit & Stitch has gone back to a split session, meeting 11-1 and again 4-6, so those who work and the children who learned to crochet over the summer, can still be part of our group.

So what is up and coming for October ? Get ready to mark your calendars, because our calendar here at the library is filling up.

October 1 we are bringing back our monthly MOVIE DAY. We’re gonna start with It’s A Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Movie starts at 11:00.

October 1-8 is our DECORATE A PUMPKIN CONTEST. Be sure to have your pumpkin in the library by Oct 2:00 on the 8th. Voting and bidding will take place Oct 10-14. Vote for your favorite in each category, and bid on the one YOU want to take home for decoration. Prizes will be given out in each division…PreK, Elementary, Middle School, High School, and Adult. Pumpkins will be available for pickup on Saturday, Oct 15 by 2pm. *All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Children’s Programming.

October 8 is something ya’ll look forward to……it’s Reading with Rover at 11:00. This is a program for children who may be a little unsure of their reading skills, who are nervous to read aloud, or are just learning to read. The dogs LOVE to be read to, and they don’t put any pressure on the kiddos, and the kiddos are relaxed and not having to worry about getting everything exactly perfect.

October 15 will be our Fall Canvas Painting class. There will be a class for adults at 11, and children at 2. Canvas size s and price for the class will be released in a couple weeks.

October 22 at 2:00, we are having a SCARECROW POT Craft Day for adults. More information and price will be announced next week.

October 22 and November 19, both at 11:00, Jennifer will be back with us for more help with the upcoming OPEN ENROLLMENT. She will be able to answer questions for you and help you find the plan that best fits your needs.

October 29 is our Annual HARVEST BASH. This year, we’re going to do it a little different than we’ve done before. We will have our first BASH at 11:00, for students in Kindergarten – 6th grade. We’ll have games, crafts, snacks and a ‘trick or treat’ around the library. Be sure to come in costume. There will be prizes for our Costume Contest. Then, here comes the new part…from 5-7pm there will be a BASH for students in 7th & 8th grades. Ya’ll asked for it, you’re gonna get it. We’re gonna have KARAOKE, BLACK LIGHTS, and

JUST DANCE. So, tell your friends, and be sure to be where all the fun is happening.

Remember to stop in and see us for printing, faxing, notary work or just to visit. And don’t forget to check out a book and let your imagination take you places you’ve never been.
