NEW CUMBERLAND SETS TRICK OR TREAT HOURS; PARTY TO FOLLOW AT “C” HOUSE

Ghost & Goblin Alert!  New Cumberland City Council has set Halloween Trick or Treat hours  for Sat. Oct., 29, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.    Trick or Treat hours will conclude with a long-standing tradition in the community:  the Lions Club Halloween Party at the Community House.

Mayor Will White told Council at Monday night’s meeting that both Weirton and Steubenville have set their Trick or Treat hours for that same time.

The City will proceed with advertising for bids on three parcels owned by the City:  two lots adjacent to the former Staley building and a lot located on Commerce Street been the Rich Zumer and the Toni Love property.   Mayor White has asked realtor Bill Greathouse for an appraisal of the properties and Greathouse valued the two lots adjacent to the Staley building at $2,500 each and the lot between the Zumer/Love properties at $1,000.   The new owner of the Staley (Graham)  building had expressed interest in purchasing the lots adjacent to his property, but the City must legally advertise the City-owned property at a public auction.

Jeff Faucitt approached Council for assistance with his building, the Faucitt (former Huff and Bloom) building.     Due to a busted water pipe in January, the basement was flooded and a $3,700 water bill was incurred.  White said the City forgave the water and sewage bills that accumulated beyond the normal water useage in the building.  The couple is looking for additional assistance with costs they are facing from Stonegate, a sub-contractor for Thrasher on the City’s water project.   The building is currently for sale.
