COUNTY SETS TRICK or TREAT HOURS

NEW CUMBERLAND, WV – Trick or Treating hours in the unincorporated areas of Hancock County are set for 5:30p.m. to 7:00p.m. on October 31 and with Halloween right around the corner, Hancock County Sheriff Gittings stresses the importance of safety during trick or treating. Statistics show the leading cause of Halloween injuries are falls or being struck or injured by a car.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office will once again be utilizing the X-Ray machine in the County Courthouse, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM following trick or treating.

Parents and children are welcome to bring their treats to the courthouse to be scanned. The machine is located in the lobby of the Hancock County Courthouse. An employee of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office will be operating the machine.

After utilizing the X-Ray machine for many years, the Hancock County Sheriffs Office has never found anything harmful or suspicious in the children’s candy. Sheriff Gittings would like to keep it that way
