President Dorothy Hawkes brought the meeting to order. She offered the prayer and led the Pledge of Allegiance. She introduced the evening’s guest, District Governor Jay Houser. Lion Pam Stiles made a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes and the treasurer’s report with a second by Lion Cole Young. Motion carried. District Governor Jay Houser spoke about your “ah-ha” moment that cemented your membership in Lions. He also showed a video message from International President Brian Sheehan. President Dorothy Hawkes presented DG Jay Houser with a cross stitched copy of his theme for this year. Lion Joyce Young has scheduled the Walk-A-Thon for Sight in honor of Past District Governor Jack Harris and Past President of the New Cumberland Lions Club Brian Webster for October 22 at 10:00 a.m. Those walking will meet in front of the Swaney Memorial Library in New Cumberland. Lion Peggy Lee announced the Halloween Party will be October 29th at the Community House in New Cumberland at 7:15 p.m. following New Cumberland Trick or Treat hours. Past District Governor Bernice Pitcock invited the New Cumberland Lions Club to join Weirton’s DG Night on October 18. Lion Pam Stiles thanked everyone involved with making our District Governor’s Night a success. The Board meeting will be October 18 at 6:00 P.M. in the New Cumberland Council Chambers. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
