New Cumberland Cemetery is one of 3,000 cemeteries across America to be designated as an official Wreaths Across America location.  The Wreaths Across America organization ships fresh balsam wreaths to member locations every December, and these wreaths are placed on the graves of local veterans.  This year, National Wreaths Across America Day is Saturday, December 17, 2022.  On that day, thousands of volunteers in every state will show up to honor veterans by decorating their graves.  If you would like to purchase a wreath for this ceremony, the cost is $15.00.  Order forms may be picked up at the city building in New Cumberland, or a form will be mailed to you by calling district coordinator George Hines at 304-670-7092.  Deadline for orders is November 29, 2022.  The wreath you order may be grave specific, or you can choose to have the wreath placed on any veteran’s grave. You do not need to be present on that day to place your wreath, and the wreath you purchase can be placed on a veteran’s grave in any cemetery.  This program is a way to honor our veterans during the holidays and to thank them for their service to our country.
