OBITUARY: CONNIE MAYES

Connie A. Mayes, a kind, generous, and loving soul, died after a courageous and valiant fight against cancer at the Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, FL, on Monday, April 10, 2023. She was in the presence of her cherished grandchildren as she passed from this life into her heavenly realm.

71 years old, Connie was born in East Liverpool on May 9, 1951. She was the daughter of the late Wilbert A. and Elizabeth Jane Cornell Weekly.

Connie has many accolades in life, none more important than her marriage of 52 years to her husband, Bob Mayes, her family, and friends. She selflessly shared the abundance of her life with family, friends, and anyone else in need. After the birth of their first grandchild, Connie and Bob made it a priority to travel to Sarasota to spend time creating memories with their grandchildren.

Connie graduated from Oak Glen High School in 1969 and continued her professional career as the owner of M.D. Medical Billing in Chester, where she provided a livelihood for those same family and friends. Upon retirement, Connie and her husband, Bob, moved permanently to Sarasota, Florida, to share their lives with their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.

Along with her parents, her brother, Michael Weekly, and her nephew, Billy Weekley, preceded her in death.

Heartbroken by her loss are family, husband Robert L. Mayes, daughter Beth LaGasse, son-in-law Dax LaGasse, grandchildren Abby, Evan, and Lexi LaGasse, brother Wiliam Weekley, and sister-in-law Sherry Weekley.

Their lives have been forever changed, but they are left with so many fond memories.

Pastor Tim Bess will celebrate Connie’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Saturday, April 15, at 11:00 a.m. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
