GRAY LIONS SCHOLAR OF THE MONTH

Alexis Gray, 17, is the April recipient of the Lion’s Club Scholar of the Month. Alexis is the daughter of Jeremy Gray and Renee Duffield of Newell. She is a senior at Oak Glen High School. Throughout her high school career, Alexis has committed to several honors, Advanced Placement, and dual credit courses. She will graduate with 24 credit hours from West Virginia Northern Community College. She is currently ranked 7th in her class, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 4.138. Alexis is also a West Virginia Promise Scholar. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Prom Committee. Outside of school, Alexis is a member of the Newell Volunteer Fire Department. She takes pride in serving her community and has completed over 30 hours of community service. Alexis also has a love for music as she plays three instruments: the piano, ukulele, and guitar. In the fall, Alexis plans to attend Fairmont State University to pursue a degree in English Education. With this degree, she hopes to travel and teach the English language to non-native speakers.
