THINGS I KNOW……WISH I KNEW…..AND NEED TO FIND OUT! BY TAMARA

The above is a take on the late Hugh Tate’s occasion column “Things I think, know and see.”  Lots of activity lately and I need to find out if rumor is rumor or fact.  So some things you may have know or heard:

Oak Glen Softball Turf is on the Board agenda under unfinished business.  “Discusssion and possible action to begin the process for installation of the turf and lighting at Oal Glen Field of Dreams” is slated for discussion, maybe action.

Also on the agenda is discussion on complete budgets for all current projects at WHS Softball and Baseball project.

The two issues were discussed briefly at the last meeting.  One group seemed to favor know where the Weir project comes in financially before the northern project is begun,

One member favors getting an assessment of what exactly needs done and getting estimates and what it will cost.   My question.?  We know the money for the Weir Complex came from the Levy.   hat pot of money will be the Oak Glen Project.source.  Softball fans are worried about the condition of the turn.   Rumor has it that one member of he Board from the North may be retiring, leaving only Fields to represent the northern end of the county.

What is the status of CHANGES inc. School Health Center at Oak  Glen Middle.  I have no record of the Board taking action.  It will use existing space but will need to be retrofitted and there will need to be equipment.    I have no record of the Board taking the action necessary to make it happen.

Did you know the Board of Education is the 2nd largest employer after Cliffs, surpassing the predecessor of Homer Laughlin and Mountaineer.

Is there finally going be a bridge near the rack?   For years and years Ted Arneault fought for a bridge to improve the ingress and egress to Montaineer to no avail.

Rumors are th  Bridge will be over Ohio River Boulevard for use by NUCOR only.    If you notice in the property transfers Nucor bought the Brenneman property for 4.2 millioon and Robert & Michelle Chambers for 2.2 million.  My first thought was that’s on the wrong side of the road.    The quarry property is on the riverside.   But I heard  that problem  will be solved with a bridge to transport material.  Following up on that one.

Had a chance to talk to the public relations director at Form Energy at the town hall meetings.   They will begin holding job fairs.  They have already hired four Hancock County residents  Suzie Fletcher is one of them and she tells me they are a great company.

Much more to investigate on the horizon.   Stay tuned!
