CHESTER – Members of the Chester Garden Club met at the Lynn Murray Memorial Library on July 5th. President Connie Doughty led the group in The Pledge of Allegiance and conducted the meeting. Donna Stevens read a piece from A Splash of Joy in the Cesspool of Life, led members in The Garden Club Prayer,” and gave the blessing before the meal.
Doughty reported that club members had weeded the Richmond Garden, but a date for trimming the trees has not been confirmed.
The subject for this year’s fundraiser jigsaw puzzle has been changed to Frank’s Pastry. Originally the group planned to use the “Almost Heaven” sign along with the neighboring log cabin, but members decided that a fall picture would be more colorful, so that will be the subject for next year’s puzzle. Susie Wilson will order the puzzles which will be sold at Teapot Day on August 12th.
The group will tour The Gardens at Hippley Village in Columbiana on Friday, July 21st. Members will meet at the library and carpool to the gardens.
Members voted to change the meeting schedule to every month year round.
Following the business meeting, Doughty gave a short lesson on rock decoupaging followed by the group trying their hand at rock decorating.
The next meeting will be at the library on July 26th at 1:00 PM. New members are always welcome.
