CHESTER COUNCIL TABLES PAY RAISE FOR PART-TIME PATROLMAN

    Chester City Council tabled a raise for part-time patrolman at Monday’s meeting.  Council had gone into Executive Session prior to the vote to table to discuss thei ssue.   The resignation of Patrolman Don Blankenship was also accepted and payment of Blankenship’s vacation time was approved. Blankenship will be available for a few weeks to help out if the need arises.

     Susan Hineman told Council that the air conditioner at the City Park inside pavilion had broke and that the cost of a new one would be $4,200.00  Council voted to allocate $3,000.00 to assist with the cost with part of the Coal Severance to be allocated to Parks to assist  with the cost.

     Hineman resported that Connie Hissom of Connie’s Corner had raised $800.00  for a special needs swing for the Park Playground.   Hineman reported  that Sherry Murray of H&L Trucking had donated $1,400 for the frame for the swing.

Hinesman said everything is in place for Teapot Day on August 12 and the Committee is hopeful the rain will hold off until the celebration is over. She reported both the teapot and creamer had been power washed and painted.

In other business, Council:

**Heard from Josh Lytle, president of Family Care Ministries, about the services the non-profit organization offers the community.  The faith-based program deals with addiction of all kinds and currently provides up to six-months, residential care for women on Pyramus Road;

**Accepted receipts of $112,316.81 into the general fund;;

**Paid bills amounting to $56,393.90 out of the general fund;

**Placed receipts of $4,735.00 into the Building Fund;

**Paid bills of $493.82 out of the Building Fund;

**Learned that a letter had been drafted to Heavy Iron expressing concern about heavy tractor trailer traffic in the area of their facility.;

**Voted to renew the Brooke Hancock Jefferson Metropolitan Planning (BHJ) Commission membership at a cost of $680.00;

**Approved the Bordon Office Copier Maintenance Agreement;.
