- President Lion Pam Stiles brought the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. Lion Dorothy Hawkes said the prayer and Lion Alan Lee led the pledge of allegiance.
The reading of the District Governor’s meeting minutes was dispensed with. Lion Alan Lee provided the Treasurer’s Report and the report will be filed for audit.President Pam Stiles provided a summary of the Walk-a-thon. We had 10 walkers this year and received donations for the WVLSCF.Lion Alan Lee discussed the Halloween Party, scheduled for October 31, 2023, at the New Cumberland C-House. Lions will start decorating at 5:30 p.m. The party starts at 7:15 p.m. The club has volunteers signed up for all the positions.President Pam Stiles deferred discussion of the club by-laws until the next board meeting. There will be NO BOARD MEETINGS UNTIL JANUARY 2024.Lion Alan Lee discussed the impact on the club of the future sale of the City Building. The club can store and display our Lions items in the Swaney Memorial Library upon the sale of the City Building.President Pam Stiles reminded the club about the New Cumberland Christmas parade scheduled for December 9, 2023. The parade starts at the end of the 1000 block of Second Avenue at 5:00 p.m. and ends at the old city building. Our club will provide hot chocolate. Lion Alan Lee asked Lions John Ashcraft and Warren Wright for the use of their coffee dispensers.President Pam Stiles discussed the shoe box donation for Christmas and provided flyers to those members interested in supplying a box for children. President Pam Stiles asked club members to bring their filled shoe boxes to the November 14 regular meeting.Lion Alan Lee informed the club that our pulled pork provider, Hales of High St., is going out of business. The club will need to find another supplier in time to support the next event on Memorial Day weekend.Lion Jeanne Cox will coordinate the Christmas tree decoration at the Swaney Memorial Library. Lion Alan Lee will confirm that the library will continue this annual event.Lion Jeanne Cox was approached by a person requesting help with hearing aids. Hearing aids have not been an activity our club supports.
