ADKINS IS OCTOBER LION’S SCHOLAR

Alana Reese Adkins, 18, daughter of Charles and Tabitha Adkins of 4584 Wylie Ridge Road, New Cumberland WV has been chosen as the Oak Glen High School Lion’s Club Scholar of the Month for October 2023. 

During Alana’s time at Oak Glen High School, she was chosen for the Weirton Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program as a sophomore, attended West Virginia University’s Forensic Science Camp as a junior, was selected to attend the CJIS FBI Teen Academy and is a part of the Judicial Scholars Program her senior year. 

Alana has been a member of the Oak Glen High School Marching Band for all four years, playing the flute until her senior year where she plays the piccolo and has lettered her past two years. She is also a member of the concert band where she plays the flute. She was a member of the Region One Honor Band her junior year. Alana has been a member of the Oak Glen Swim Team since her sophomore year and has lettered both years. She has also been a member of the Oak Glen Theater since her sophomore year where takes on a leadership role and helps to design and create the set.  

Alana is the Executive President over Student Council where she works to better the school and the community. She is a member of the Recorder Ensemble, Science Club, Chess Club, Culture Club, Prom Committee, and National Honors Society.  

After High School, Alana is attending West Virginia University where she will be studying Forensic Chemistry.
