The Fidelis Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization for Women Educators met at Eat “n Park in Weirton, WV, October 5th, 2023, at 12:00. Carolyn Allison welcomed the members.
Members entered the room to enjoy candy and candles. There were 16 members in attendance.
The “Thought for the Day” was given by Chaplain Bonnie Queses as she gave a tribute and read “The Best on Earth, a Veteran.” She gave a “Thanksgiving Day Prayer”, followed by a blessing.
The Minutes were given by Ruth Fuller which were approved.
Treasurer Carolyn Allison gave the financial report. She shared information on the birthday fund, and information on the Fidelis Gamma 2 Year Budget for Conventions and Conferences.
Altruistic Chairman Margo Polk provided a form to record volunteer hours – monetary, non-monetary, and service hours.
To celebrate Alpha Delta Kappa Month, Committee Chairman Shirley Washam presented library books to four schools in the Follansbee School District – Brooke Primary South, Brooke Intermediate South, Brooke Primary North, and Brooke Intermediate North.
Members Carolyn Allison and Ruth Fuller shared information from the Ohio Valley District Fall Luncheon hosted by Alpha Tau on Saturday, October 28th at Scaffidi”s Restaurant in Steubenville, Ohio. They also shared information on the Alpha Delta Kappa State Convention to be held at Oglebay Park, April 19-21, 2024.
Under Unfinished Business: Ruth Fuller and Carolyn Allison presented 550 Christmas card fronts to Oak Glen Middle School Math teacher Mrs. Haynes. Haynes will use the Christmas card fronts in her Algebra classes as students will use their Geometry skills to create Christmas Ornaments.
President Higgins shared information on the upcoming Tri-Chapter (Alpha Tau, Alpha Kappa, and Fidelis Gamma Chapters) Christmas brunch on December 9, 2023, at Scaffidi’s Restaurant , in Steubenville, Ohio. Reservations should be made by November 27th. Registration is at 11:00 with brunch at 11:30.
President Higgins thanked the hostesses – Sandi Anderson, Nancy Deters, and Janet Benzo.
Sisterly concerns were shared.
The meeting was adjourned with the singing of “The Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa.”
