My favorite Christmas memory is singing Silent Night to candlelight in church on Christmas Eve. It is a wonderful reminder of how, even among the chaos of the world, God is there, and He provides a stillness, hope, and peace that no one else can provide. It is my favorite part of every Christmas season and has been a constant my entire life. As I get older, Silent Night continues to gain meaning and appreciation through learning its history. What stemmed from a poem put to a last minute guitar tune has become the symbol of peace and truces during the heaviest of conflicts. It is a great reminder of what God can do and of His gift to us through the birth of His son.
