Hancock County ended the year finalizing preparations for a shared election with the City of Weirton and prepared for the new year by authorizing committee and personnel appointments for 2024.
The effort to consolidate municipal and state and county elections whenever feasible has resulted in the City of Weirton working with County Clerk’s office to work out the machinations. Weirton City solicitor Mike Adams was on hand at the meeting for the memorandum of understanding’s final passage. The issue had been tabled several times while details were worked out.
The Sheriff’s Office organizational chart was again tabled. While there were no changes in the chart, it needed to be made a matter of record and placed on file, especially when raises are given out. The organizational charts works in tandem with the job class and pay scale distribution.
