NEWELL WAS “ALL WET” SATURDAY

Newell’s Fun Day featured the most unique parade which parade goers claimed was the funnest and wetest Saturday. Hometown News editor Shannon Sayre was able to capture each entry before they fired their water guns. As soon as she snapped the picture they fired and Shannon claimed she was the wettest although some would disagree.

According parade organizer, Bev Enochs. there were 40 parade entries!  The Newell Coalition and Newell Fire Dept. Sponsored a Night at the Races to raise funds for the Newell Fun Day.  Most attractions were no cost to participate. The Knockout Basketball and Dunk tank were both $1 to play. Knockout Basketball Money went to the winner. Corn hole entry fees of $20 per team also was distributed to the top 3 teams.

“So, as you see, the Fun Day was a day for the community and surrounding neighbors.  A day to enjoy at no to low cost!  Profit is not made on this event,” said Enochs.”
