Known for his sharp sense of humor, booming laugh, and boundless love, he touched the lives of everyone who knew him. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Management from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1989, Scott embarked on a distinguished and diverse career, beginning with his service as a shipboard officer aboard CGC Sweetgum and then CGC Forward. After his military service, Scott transitioned into the world of technology by collaborating closely with his father, bringing his father’s educational courses to the internet—a true testament to his innovation and drive. This venture furthered his passion for technology, resulting in a position as a technical writer. Building on his technical expertise, Scott became a webmaster for a web development company before launching his own successful web development business. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open a local computer shop, providing valuable services and support to his community. A gifted teacher, he also taught at New Life Academy, where he helped launch many individuals’ IT careers.

Through all these roles, he brought passion, creativity, and a deep commitment to excellence. His brilliance and insight were evident in every endeavor he undertook.

On May 25, 1990, Scott married his Coast Guard Academy sweetheart and the love of his life, Virginia R. ‘Ginger’ Malcolm (Downing). Together, they were blessed with three amazing children: Captain Jonathan Malcolm, USAF, of Boise, ID; Caleb (Paige) Malcolm of Cincinnati, OH; and Katrina (Samuel) Brothers of East Liverpool, OH. Scott is also survived by his brother, Michael (Hillary) Malcolm of Columbus, OH, as well as two adored grandchildren, Felicity Malcolm and Carter Brothers, and his treasured cat, Mr. Kitty.

Scott’s love for the Lord was his guiding purpose, shaping every aspect of his life. A devout Christian, he dedicated himself to Believers Church in Boardman and Hope Christian Fellowship in Lisbon, where he cherished his spiritual community and worship. His fervent passion for the Lord was evident in his years of teaching children’s Sunday school, where he eagerly shared his faith and love for God with the younger generation. Additionally, as a small group leader, he inspired and nurtured others in their spiritual journeys.

An exceptional bowler since the age of 6, Scott’s passion for the sport never waned. He bowled regularly throughout his life, competing in countless leagues and tournaments. His dedication to the sport earned him membership in the Professional Bowlers Association. He was also a committed member and past president of the East Liverpool Men’s Church Bowling League, where he bowled weekly. Scott’s love for sports knew no bounds; he was an avid fan of hockey and football, passionately immersed in various fantasy leagues.
