CHESTER GARDEN CLUB MEET

CHESTER – The Chester Garden Club met in the Chester City Building on September 25th. Vice President Susie Wilson led the group in The Pledge of Allegiance and the Garden Club Prayer and conducted the meeting. Devotions leader Donna Stevens read “Sand and Stone” and “In Good Company.”  Mary Ann Wright gave the treasurer’s report.

Members discussed their recent trip to Randy’s Raisings where owner Randy Delposen recounted the history of the farm while members enjoyed the views from an open wagon fitted with wooden benches. Members enjoyed seeing the fields of pumpkins ready to be harvested and the countless rows of corn which Delposen explained were purposefully planted a week apart to extend the time the corn would be available in the market. The spot everyone agreed was the most interesting was the vantage point high enough on a hill to view both West Virginia and Pennsylvania in the distance while surrounded by the lush beauty of the farm fields. Club members enjoyed the tour and agreed that they hoped to visit the farm again in the near future. They also thanked club member Ki Trelaine for arranging the tour.

Club volunteers will meet at Arner’s at 11:00 on Wednesday, October 11th, to remove the flowers from the planters along Carolina Avenue and prepare the pots for the fall decorations.

The next meeting will be held at the Chester City Building on Wednesday, October 23rd at 1:00 when members will choose a subject for this year’s fundraiser jigsaw puzzle. Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to attend.
