Oak Glen Middle School 8th Grade Volleyball Team competed in the 23rd Annual Hilltopper Invitational over the weekend. The team traveled to Clarksburg, WV and finished pool play 4-0. They defeated Doddridge 25-14 & 25-4, Huntington 25-16 & 25-21, Buckhannon 25-20 & 25-8, and Washington Irving 25-6 & 25-6. The Lady Bears received a bye in the first round of tournament play. In the semi-finals Oak Glen defeated Shady Springs 25-18, 23-25, 15-10. In the finals the Lady Bears came up short to Wirt losing 25-19, 28-30, 8-15. Leading the team in scoring on the day were Katie Kliner (42), Kennedy Staley (34), Bryson Adams (31), Naomi Ayers (27), Parker Whitecotton (18). Adams also had 123 sets and 17 kills. Staley and Ayers put down 31 and 22 kills, respectively. Elynn Rogers had 73 sets and 26 kills. Audrina May had 19 kills while Aubreauna Wright had 15 kills. Karter Turley put up 10 sets and put down 48 kills. Kliner, Bella Hoder and Amelia Kampmeyer combined for over 85 digs. The Lady Bears had an excellent tournament finishing 2nd.
