WMC ANNOUNCES LEADERSHIP CHANGES

Weirton Medical Center (WMC) announced a leadership transition as they prepare for a new chapter in the institution’s history. John C. Frankovitch will retire from serving as President and CEO at the end of 2024 after a distinguished 27-year career with WMC. During his tenure, Mr. Frankovitch has been instrumental in guiding WMC through periods of growth and transformation, serving as President since 2016.
WMC officials stated, “Frankovitch’s visionary leadership and unwavering dedication have been pivotal in establishing WMC as a leading healthcare provider for the region. Mr. Frankovitch also championed WMC’s strategic vision for long term continued success through an integration with West Virginia University Health System (WVUHS).”
Frankovitch will continue with WMC in his new role as a President Emeritus of the Board of Trustees and Strategic Advisor, assisting to guide strategic and integration efforts between WMC and WVUHS, ensuring a seamless transition and focusing on integration and expansion efforts. WVUHS and WMC officials announced the appointment of David Artman as the new President and CEO, effective January 1, 2025. Mr. Artman, who has been with WMC since 2012, brings a wealth of experience and a track record of success in senior-level healthcare management. Prior to joining WMC, Mr. Artman served as Chief Executive Officer for Kindred Healthcare at Heritage Valley and Kindred Healthcare at Mercy Hospital Pittsburgh.
Frankovitch stated, “It has been an honor and privilege to serve as President and CEO of Weirton Medical Center since 2016. We are so proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to the hospital’s success as we enter our next chapter as part of the WVU Health System. Dave Artman has been a key part of WMC’s leadership team for over a decade. He was a big part of our success, and we are certain that the hospital will continue to expand on providing world class health care under Dave’s leadership.”
