Ami Arneault has been named Administrator of the Hancock County Health Department. She succeeds Jackie Huff who is retiring from the position after 20 years of serving the public. Huff has spent the last month acclimating Arneault with the position,
The Health Department is charged with providing services that promotes healthy thriving, educated residents throughout the community. Among those services are immunizations for both uninsured and underinsured adults and approved vaccines provided by the WV Immunization Program. The Department provides TB testing and STD/HIV testing. Disease investigations for Hancock County is conducted by the Dept. which is in turn reported to the West Virginia Health Department. The Dept. works with Animal Control in the County and City of Weirton for Rabies testing. Responsibility for food safety is among the areas covered by the Department and Sanitarians check restaurants and other establishments that serve food on a monthly basis.
Prior to joining the Health Department, Arneault spend eight years at CHANGE, Inc. serving as a Customer Resource Supervisor. She co- owned and operated ORCA in New Cumberland and prior to coming to Hancock County was a First Lt. in the Army, stationed in New Mexico.
A native of New Mexico, Arneault has been a resident of Hancock County for 24 years, She and her husband, Patrick, currently reside on Rolling Acres Road, New Cumberland. . They are the parents of two grown children,, Patrick, who resides in Texas, and Olivia, who resides in Fairmont.
