OBITUARY: MARY LOU KINSEY

Mary Lou Woomer Kinsey, 97, of East Liverpool, passed away at the Pepperberry Suites in Chester on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, with her two loving children at her side.

She was born in East Liverpool on July 19, 1927, to the late J. Ray and Phyllis Hamilton Woomer.

Mary Lou graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1945, where she was a cheerleader in her senior year. She sang with seven other girls called the Melodete and traveled to embarkation centers to entertain troops preparing to go overseas during WW II. Mary Lou is a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, where she served as lector and, at one time, served on the Vestry and sang in the choir. 1950 she graduated from Ohio State University as a registered dental hygienist. Mary Lou worked in East Liverpool for twenty-five years for Dr. Collin, Marvin, and R. Jay Kinsey. She then worked twenty-five years for Dr. Lee Swearingen, fifteen years as a temporary all around Columbiana County, and mostly for Dr. Bruce Gibbs.

Along with her parents, her husband, Dale E. Kinsey, and her friend, Michael J. Mikita, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Jim) Moore of East Liverpool and Luann (David) Laviola of New Albany, OH, her brother, John R. “Jack” Woomer of Atlanta, GA, and four grandchildren, Jonathan (Ashley) Moore, Erin (Travis) Laviola Duerstock, Cara (Eric Reinhardt) Laviola, and Colin (Samantha) Laviola. Three great-grandchildren, Maddox, Gabriella Moore, and Halston Laviola, also survive.

Father John Coventry of St. Stephens will conduct memorial services at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Sunday, December 29, at 2:00 p.m. Friends are invited to a memorial visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
