NEW CUMBERLAND TO HOLD CITY ELECTION

Residents in New Cumberland interested in running for Council or Mayor will have the opportunity to file for office beginning January 13, 2025 and ending at midnight Feb. 1, 2025. The Municipal Election is set for Tuesday, May 13. Candidates running for office must reside in the Ward in which they run and be registered as a voter in New Cumberland. The Election Proclamation follows with the Council and Mayor positions and term of office liste.

MUNICIPAL ELECTION
CITY OF NEW CUMBERLAND, WEST VIRGINIA

Notice is hereby given to the voters of the City of New Cumberland, Hancock County, West Virginia, that a regular city election will be held in the said city on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, for the following purposes:

  1. Mayor Four year term
  2. Ward I
    Seat “C” Councilman -Four year term
  3. Ward II
    Seat “A” Councilman – Four year term
    Seat “B” Councilman – Four year term
    Seat “C” Councilman- Two year term

In order to vote at the said election, the voter must be registered. Persons qualified to vote and not registered are required to register with the County Clerk of Hancock County on or before Tuesday, April 22, 2025, twenty-one days before the holding of the said election.

Under the West Virginia State Code Election Laws, all candidates must file with the City Clerk between January 13, 2025 and on or before midnight Saturday, February 1, 2025, Eastern Standard Time. Candidate’s filing certificates may be obtained from the City Clerk at the New Cumberland City Building, 204 North River Ave., New Cumberland, West Virginia, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Candidates may withdraw their candidacy in writing on or before 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daylight saving time on May 13, 2025.
