PSC ADOPTS RECOMMENDATIONS of its POLE ATTACHMENT TASK FORCE

CHARLESTON – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia on Tuesday adopted recommendations of its Pole Attachment Task Force to settle disputes on how companies should share utility poles.

The action is considered essential to the expansion of broadband services across the state.

On August 24, 2024, the Commission opened the proceeding on its own motion to initiate a general investigation to establish the task force to consider a number of issues that had caused disputes over pole attachments.

After adopting an extensive set of standards in Tuesday’s order, the Commission noted it will be necessary to have further proceedings in this matter.

The various parties involved were ordered to meet within 10 days to confer and establish additional hearing dates for those proceedings on “outstanding issues” not resolved in this order. The West Virginia Office of Broadband and West Virginia Broadband Council were invited to participated in these further proceedings.
