WHEELING, W.VA – West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) is now accepting nominations for its 2025 Distinguished Alumni of the Year award. This prestigious recognition, sponsored by the WVNCC Foundation, celebrates the achievements of exceptional alumni who have made significant contributions to their field and community. The award will be presented at the College’s commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at WesBanco Arena.
Each year, WVNCC honors one graduate who exemplifies excellence, leadership, and dedication in their professional and personal lives. The Distinguished Alumni of the Year award highlights the college’s tradition of preparing students for success and inspiring positive change.
The College encourages nominations for graduates who:
• Have excelled in their chosen career or field.
• Demonstrate a commitment to their community through volunteerism, advocacy, or other forms of service.
• Embody the values and mission of WVNCC by serving as a role model and inspiring others to pursue higher education and personal growth.
“Our alumni are our greatest success stories,” said Rana Spurlock, WVNCC Director of Institutional Advancement. “This award allows us to honor and recognize the incredible impact our graduates have made both professionally and within their communities.”
All nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee, which will vote to elect this year’s Distinguished Alumni. To submit a nomination, please provide the nominee’s name, graduation year, program of study, and a brief explanation of why they deserve the award. Self-nominations are also welcome. Nominations must be submitted by April 1, 2025.
