It’s NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK, this week, April 6-12, and we have lots of things planned for the week ahead, at Lynn Murray Memorial Library.
Monday, I’ll be reading to the kiddos at Allison Elementary Schools, in Pre School, Kindergarten, and 1st grade. In the afternoon, the 2nd grade classes will be at the library for a story, and to pick out new books to take home to read.
Tuesday at 10:30 am, we will have our CARD MAKING CLASS. I am so excited to share the new tool we have to work with. We were given a tool, by a dear friend, to help make our card making a lot more fun. Come and check it out. The class is $5 and card supplies will be provided. Please bring your own glue or tape, whichever you prefer to work with. We always have such a good time making cards. Stay tuned for photos from the class. In the afternoon, we will have one of our third grade classes over from the school.
Wednesday is our Storytime. Class for 0-2 yr olds will be 10:30-11, and our class for 2-5 yr olds will be 11:30-12:30. Please register, by calling the library to let us know which class your child(ren) will need. In the afternoon, we will have the other third grade class from Allison coming over.
Thursday will be the second week for our Nutrition Class, brought to us from WVU Extension Office. Love Wood will be back at 1:00 to bring us another recipe to try, and for more shopping, healthy habits, and kitchen safety information. You’ll definitely want to attend, so you can sample our skillet lasagna. This is a FREE class for adults, so come join us.
Then, at 4:00, we will be continuing with our Quilting Class. If you already sew and quilt, come share your knowledge with us. If you wanna learn to sew and to quilt, we have plenty of help and experience. Bring your own sewing machine, if you have one. If you don’t, we have some available for you to borrow.
Friday is our Sit & Stitch day, from 11-6. People come together to knit and crochet mostly, but any needlework will do. What a wonderful group of people and a wealth of information. Come and stay a couple of hours or stay all day.
At 1:00, we will be having our CRAFTERNOON class, and we’ll be making an Easter Egg Wreath. This will be a $10 class, with all materials provided. You do not need to register for this class. Just be here slightly before 1:00 to get ready for the class.
And, then last but not least, Saturday is our Annual SEEDS & TREES Program. This is one of my favorite programs that we have. Plan to get dirty, as we plant vegetable and flower seeds, make bird feeders, construct a bug house, and take home a sapling to plant. We’d like to thank First Energy for providing us with our saplings every year, to make this program such a success.
I think that about wraps it up for all that is going on this week. We hope to see you at one or more of the programs we have planned for you.
Since it’s National Library Week, let us know what draws you into the library. And, let us know what kind of programming you’d like to see us have in the library. I’m always looking to bring the things y’all would enjoy, to the library for you. So let us know what that is.
Until next time, grab a book, and let your imagination take you places you’ve never been before.
Happy Reading
Miss Connie
