Corbin Deremer, age 18 is Oak Glen High School’s Lions Club Scholar for April 2025.
Corbin lives with her mother (Rachel Deremer), her brother (Jaxon Deremer) and her dog (Pippen). Corbin has been a member of the OGHS Marching Band and Concert Band for the past four years, showcasing her talent playing the Contra Alto Clarinet and Tenor Saxophone. She was also a member of the recorder ensemble her freshman year.
She has also been a 4-year member of the Oak Glen Little Theater program. During her freshman year she performed the lead role of Annie and has performed in other leading roles such as Amy March in Little Women and is set to play Cinderella in the upcoming production of Into the Woods.
Corbin was inducted into the National Honor Society in her junior year and has remained a member into her senior year of school. She participated in the reading of the value of character during the ceremony.
Corbin has participated in the Poetry Out Loud Competition. She competed and moved on to be a top 10 finalist statewide. She performed her poetry in front of a panel of judges at the state capital in West Virginia.
She is a talented artist and loves to bake and cook in her spare time. For the past 4 years she has worked at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in the nursery and the Orchards in the Independent living facility. She loves her job working with the elderly and children and this has inspired her to pursue a career in Nursing. Corbin has volunteered multiple hours of her time to the community.
She was selected to participate in the American Legion Auxiliary Rhododendron Girls State and was elected mayor of her community. She made lots of friends during her week there.
Corbin has been a member of the pep club and was selected as a senior Homecoming candidate.
She plans to Attend WVU to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and plans to further her career to become a nurse practitioner. She chose this field to give back to the community and further cultivate her caring nature.
