IMAGINATION STATION with Miss Connie

Our baby chicks sure were tired by the end of the day. They’re old enough now, to be handled and seen by the kiddos. We had one class of Pre-School, three classes of Kindergarten, one class of third grade, and the high school, all in to see them. The kids were amazed at just how soft they are, and how calm. We still have a few more classes yet to see them, but they’re glad to get a little break until next week. The kiddos couldn’t believe how much they’ve grown.

Chickens are quick to grow, though, reaching their full size in about 12-18 weeks. All of the library chickens will go home with Miss Connie, once they’re fully feathered. She has a baby coop for them to live in until they’re old enough to enter her flock. Believe it or not, the hens will start laying eggs somewhere around September or October.

Stop in the library and check out a book about chickens. They’re an interesting animal.

Happy Reading!
