Hancock County Commission will Produce a Monthly Finance Report

Mindful of a budget reduction brought on by loss of revenue in areas like Racetrack Video Lottery (50%), the Hancock County Commission will issue a monthly financial report showing how each elected official is adhering to his/her reduced budget.

The report will be released to the media and available to general public each month. The financial report will be released at the Commission’s May 7th meeting. Commission President Eron Chek said the monthly release of the report will also increase transparency.

In other business, the Commission:

**Accepted and approved a proposal from Fencing Unlimited for a fence for the animal shelter. The cost of the fencing is $4,000.00 with $2,000.00 paid at the beginning of the work and $2,000.00 paid upon completion;

**Approved the payment of unused vacation totaling $3,510.80 for Terez Bruno who recently resigned her position with the Prosecutor’s Office;

**Approve Jeanne Amedon as the newest member of the Hancock County Parks & Recreation Board;

**Agreed to advertise for a position on the Brooke Hancock Jefferson Planning Commission;

**Accepted J Keeder’s resignation as Jail Administrator.  Keeder has accepted a position with the West Virginia Racing Commission as an investigator;  The Commission approved paying 100 vacation hours and 24 personal hours for a total of $4,344.28;

**Accepted the resignation of Deputy Hunter Sweat;

**Approved the order denying the claim in the Estate of Richard Freedman Ford;

**Approved the order denying the claim in the Estate of Sally Laudrille;

**Approved hiring Kaitlynn Lamp as an Animal Care Technician with a retroactive start date of April 2, 2025;

**Approved hiring Catherine Lauck as administrative assistant for the Hancock County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with a retroactive start date of April 21, 2025;

**Approved payment of general county bills of $97,953.68 and purchasing card balance of $65.108.48

**Announced that the commission will have its next monthly meeting May 8 at 2:30 p.m.
