Sink Hole on South Chester

New Cumberland City workers are hard at work today (June 25) repairing a sink hole that appeared in on South Chester in the vicinity of the old liquor store. Mayor Will White said the old water pipe used was too small and as a result water was washing out and washing the dirt out in that area under the pavement. The pipe will be replaced with a larger pipe. Jim Beatty (seated) is retired from the Gas Company and is on site to ensure the digging by the backhoe goes nowhere near the gas line causing an explosion. Meanwhile, Pat Jones is operating the backhoe as they locate and remove the old pipe. The crew continue to work with the temperature expected to hover in the mid-ninetiesl
