Your Imagination Station

With Miss Connie

And there we have it… Day 1 of Summer Reading Camp at Lynn Murray Memorial Library is in the books, and what a day we had.

Kiddos came in to choose a water bottle, so they could stay hydrated. Then they picked out a ‘colorful’ pencil bag, given to us by WVU Hancock County Extension Service. Then they got a sticker for their water bottle, a paint splatter for their name tag for the front desk display.

With water bottles filled, they went to their work stations and worked on the Activity Books that were provided by the Brooke Hancock Family Resource Network.

Miss Lindsey went over some of the vocabulary from today’s story, Window Fishing, so they’d be familiar when the children heard them. I began the story, and then some of our campers took a turn at reading. Let me tell you, it gave me goosebumps to see the want, to participate, from these kiddos.

We went on over to make stained glass windows, with the help of Zach, from WVU Ext Office. We made the design today, and will finish them tomorrow, once the base dries. Next, since our story was about an artist, Zach led us in a colorful bubble painting. Y’all should have seen their faces when they saw how cool it was to paint with bubbles.

Zach talked with everyone about 4H Camps that are coming up, and passed out 4H stickers and wristbands.

We wrapped up the day with miss Lindsey reading The Art Lesson, while the kiddos worked on their color sheet for the day.

Miss Esther joined us to take some candids of the kiddos. And, she has a little surprise for everyone. Stay tuned to see what it is.

   Bring on Day 2 …..

Happy Reading
