CRESTVIEW GETS NEW SIGN

Although Barbara Patterson Smaltz moved from her hometown early in life, she always stayed up-to-date on what was going on. Smaltz married the late Don Smaltz and moved to Weirton. For 41 years she worked as a transcriber in the radiology department in at Weirton Medical Center.

When Barbara died in 2018, she left $5,000.00 to George Hines to be used for a project of his choice to benefit her hometown.

“Barb would often call and ask about what was going on in town,” said George. “She was always interested in New Cumberland.” Hines choose a new sign for the Overlook at Crestview and he and his brother, Tim, erected a few weeks ago.

Barb moved back to New Cumberland in later years with live with her sisters Joan Rees and Eleanor Patterson.
