NC LIONS RECEIVE AWARDS

In December, Lion Peggy Rocchio Lee was presented the Leonard Jarrett Award and Lion Alan Lee was presented with a Melvin Jones Fellowship! Both very deserving of this recognition. Lion Leonard Jarrett was recognized by the Lions of West Virginia as the founder of the West Virginia Lions Sight Foundation. Thirty years ago the foundation established the Leonard Jarrett award. The award is the highest honor given by the W.Va. Lions Sight Conservation Foundation.

The Melvin Jones Fellowship is an honor, not an award, created in 1973 to acknowledge an individual’s dedication to humanitarian service. It is Lions Clubs International Foundation’s highest form of recognition. The fellowship is named after Melvin Jones, the founder of Lions Clubs International. It is awarded to Lions Club members who have provided service above and beyond the normal commitment.
