As of the end of his junior year, he has a recorded GPA of 3.29. His plans are currently open for after graduation, but he has a couple of options.

Laynie is from Chester and attends Oak Glen High School as her home school. While attending full time high school Laynie holds a job at the New Cumberland Sparkle Market. She takes time to participate in the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Pep Club, and Prom Committee. Laynie was recognized as JDRCC’s Therapeutic’s Student of the Quarter for the first quarter, and she attended Rhododenron Girls State. As of the end of her junior year, she has a recorded GPA of 4.08 and has earned sixteen college credits through Hancock County’s partnership with WVNCC’s Early Access/Dual Enrollment program. Laynie is currently a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) , and she holds certifications in Infection Control, CPR & First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, HIPAA, Foundations for a Drug Free World, and Medical Ethics. She plans to attend West Virginia Northern Community College to earn an associate degree in nursing (ADN). Her ultimate career plans are to become a traveling pediatric nurse for WVU Weirton Medical Center or Trinity.

Dominick Bennington is from Weirton; he attends Weir High School as his home school. His records currently reflect a GPA of 3.07. He is a member of the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA. This young man had the opportunity to complete his welding program with complementary college credits through Hancock County’s partnership with WVNCC’s Early Access/Dual Enrollment program. Dominick plans to obtain an apprenticeship in the field of welding and be a traveling welder.

Emma Bittinger is from Newell; she attends Oak Glen High School as her home school. She is a member of the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA and participates on the Leadership Team. Emma has competed twice in the state conference in Fairmont WV winning silver medals both times once in Career Pathways Art & Commination in 2025 and the other in Chapter Display in 2026. She has competed in the Top of the State Art Show in 2024 and 2025 where she placed in Top 3 & Honorable Mention. This young lady has successfully met the workforce entry – level score for Multi-Media Production. She will be a double completer for Graphic Design and Multi-Media Production earning competency certifications in both areas. Emma would like to try doing design commissions in the near future. She is moving to Missouri this summer.

Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA. Christopher works at Bradley and Son’s Modern Home Service. He plans to work as either a painter or a welder after high school.

He plans to attend West Virginia Northern Community College and wishes to become an electrician.

This young person supports her school by being on the both the soccer and bowling teams. While attending high school, she maintains a job at Holiday Lanes Bowling Alley in Weirton. She is a member of the GAA, FCA, NHS and NTHS. Miss Dunmyer has her CPR certification and her Food Handlers certificate. She has successfully met the workforce entry-level score for ProStart Restaurant Management through her NOCTI Testing. Kylie has made arrangement with the Army for when she leaves high school. Her plans are to be a combat engineer.

Dawson Evans is from Weirton; he attends Weir High School as his home school. This young man supports his school by playing on the Weir High Soccer Team. Dawson has successfully met the workforce entry-level score in NOCTI for Welding 2025-2026. He is a member of the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA and has twice competed in the SkillsUSA competition in Fairmont, WV. Dawson won a gold medal in the 2025 competition and competed in Atlanta at the national level. This young man had the opportunity to earn college credits in his welding program through Hancock County’s partnership with WVNCC’s Early Access/Dual Enrollment program. He plans to attend the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology in Columbus, OH. In the future, he wants to join the Pipefitters Union.

Emma Farran is from Weirton, and she attends Weir High School as her home school. While attending full time high school, Emma holds a job at Primanti Brothers as a server. She participates in the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA. This young lady has earned thirteen college credits through Hancock County’s partnership with WVNCC’s Early Access/Dual Enrollment program. Emma is currently a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and she holds certifications in Infection Control, CPR & First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, HIPAA, Foundations for a Drug Free World, and Medical Ethics. Emma has successfully met the workforce entry-level score in NOCTI for Therapeutic Services 2025-2026. She plans to attend West Virginia Northern Community College, utilizing their EMT Program and eventually become a flight medic.

Callee is from New Cumberland and attends Oak Glen High School as her home school. As of the end of her junior year, she has a recorded GPA of 4.04. She is a four-year honor roll student who has earned sixteen college credits through Hancock County’s partnership with WVNCC’s Early Access/Dual Enrollment program. Calee is currently a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) , and she holds certifications in Infection Control, CPR & First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, HIPAA, and Medical Ethics. She plans to attend West Virginia Northern Community College to earn a Registered Nursing (RN) Degree before continuing to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Her ultimate career plans are to become a certified Anesthesiologist Assistant or a NICU Nurse.

Brandon Friend is from New Cumberland; he attends Oak Glen High School as his home school. This young man supports his school by playing on the Oak Glen football team. He is a member of the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA. Brandon will complete his Auto Collision program this spring, and he plans to attend Bethany College in the fall to play football.

Jayzen Grace is from Weirton; he attends Weir High School as his home school. He is a member of the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA. He has earned Workforce Entry Level certification through NOCTI and holds food handlers, Allergens, and SERV safe documents As of the end of his junior year he has earned a 2.5 GPA all while supporting his school on the track and field team, cross country, and wrestling. In his off evenings Jayzen works a job at Bob Evans. This young man is looking at WV Tech and the US Navy for his future plans. For his hobbies he likes to bowl, box, and run.

Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA. While attending high school, this young man holds a job at Davis Distribution Systems. As a hobby, Logan enjoys wrestling, basketball, and building. He has no immediate plans for advanced training after high school.

He plans to attend West Virginia Northern Community College to earn a Registered Nursing (RN) Degree. Brock plans to work in the nursing field but also has an interest in Iran works. He has a desire to live in Alaska.

Sam is from New Cumberland; he attends Oak Glen High School as his home school. While attending full time high school, Sam holds a job as a lifeguard for Thomlinson Run Park. The young man supports his school by playing Oak Glen baseball and is on the swim team where he was state runner up. He makes time to participate in the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society, and the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA. Sam was recognized this year as JDRCC’s Carpentry Student of the Quarter for the first quarter. In 2025 he placed first at the SkillsUSA State Competition in Fairmont, West Virginia for entry level carpentry. As of the end of his junior year, he has a recorded GPA of 3.9 and is working to complete college credits in psychology through Hancock County’s partnership with WVNCC’s Early Access/Dual Enrollment program. He plans to attend West Virginia University and pursue a degree in physical therapy.

Olaniyi Jones is from Weirton; she attends Weir High School as her home school. She is a member of the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA and has competed in the state conference in Fairmont, WV. Olaniyi also participates in Upward Bound. During the school year the young lady maintains a job at Biscuit World all the while attending classes. Olaniyi has been recognized as a JDRCC’s Student of the Quarter. This enterprising student will be a JDRCC three-time completer earning certification in Pro-Start Culinary, Baking & Pastry, and Multi-Media Production. Olaniyi plans on attending North Carolina University to earn a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. She loves to cook, bake, and ride her skateboard. After receiving her education, she would like to live abroad. Olaniyi has an interest in living in an Asian country.

Madelynn will continue her pathway in elementary education at West Virginia Northern Community College and eventually earn her bachelor’s degree with teacher certification to teach kindergarten.

In her spare time, Reana likes to draw and would love to be an artist. She also enjoys working with technology.

Noah Schmidt is from New Cumberland. He attends Oak Glen High School as his home school. Noah is a member of the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA and the National Honor Society. Noah has earned nine out of ten ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications. This athlete supports his high school on the football field and wrestling mats. Young Mr. Schmidt was awarded the 106.3 The River Athlete of the Week by Joey Klepack in February 2026. As of the end of his junior year, Noah has a recorded GPA of 3.88. This fall, Noah plans to attend Bethany College and wishes to work in cyber security in the future.

Kazmarie has a goal of moving to Texas to work on the pipeline or another job in the field of welding.

As well as being a full-time student, Danika holds a job as a CNA at Weirton Geriatric Center. She participates in the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA, National Honor Society (president), and the National Technical Honor Society. FBLA, Pep club, and the Girls Athletic Association. This young lady has earned thirteen college credits through Hancock County’s partnership with WVNCC’s Early Access/Dual Enrollment program. Danika is currently a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and she holds certifications in Infection Control, CPR & First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, HIPAA, Foundations for a Drug Free World, and Medical Ethics. Danika has successfully met the workforce entry-level score in NOCTI for Therapeutic Services 2025-2026. She plans to attend West Virginia Norther Community College for Nursing. Danika has goals of earning her RN/BSN and becoming a travel nurse either working in an ER or ICU. Eventually working to earn a CRNA. She would love to live in Florida or Georgia because she loves the hot weather.

Violet from Weirton; she attends Oak Glen High School as her home school. She makes time to participate in the school yearbook club and is a member of the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA. Violet was recognized this year as JDRCC’s Auto Collision Student of the Quarter for the first quarter. She is ASE and CPR Certified. As of the end of her junior year, she has a recorded GPA of 2.5. Violet wants to attend either Rosedale Tech or WVU. She will be choosing between a forensic investigator or a skilled auto collision tech in an autobody shop.

Angel Zajac is from Weirton; he attends Weir High School as her home school. She is a member of the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA. Angel is a Double Completer earning certificates in both Pro-Start Culinary and Baking & Pastry. She has earned Workforce Entry Level certification through NOCTI and holds food handlers, Allergens, and SERV safe documents. She us not sure if she wants to attend formal education right after high school but does want to be a pastry chef.

Lucas is from New Cumberland; he attends Oak Glen High School as his home school. This young man supports his school by playing Oak Glen baseball and football. He makes time to participate in the National Honor Society, prom committee, and the John D. Rockefeller Career Center Chapter of SkillsUSA. Lucas was recognized this year as JDRCC’s Carpentry Student of the Quarter for the third quarter. In 2025 he placed first at the SkillsUSA State Competition in Fairmont, West Virginia for entry level carpentry. As of the end of his junior year, he has a recorded GPA of 3.92 and is working to complete college credits in psychology through Hancock County’s partnership with WVNCC’s Early Access/Dual Enrollment program. He plans to attend a tech school for a degree/certification Information Technology (IT).
